At 17 Nick achieved his 1st Degree Black Belt in Wado before departing for University at 18. During his studies at University he founded and coached the Exeter University Wado-Kai Karate Club and Mixed Styles Karate Team which he captained on the tournament circuit for four years. During his degree Nick achieved his 2nd Dan and spent a year in Spain where he studied Shotokan Karate and Full Contact Kickboxing under the former Spanish heavyweight kickboxing champion Cayetano Garcia. Following graduation he returned to Spain for another year where he also studied under Cayetano. At 22 Nick returned to the UK and moved to London where he studied Uechi-Ryu Karate under Sensei Terry Daly, former European Champion and instructor to Wayne Otto - seven times world karate champion. Under his tutelage Nick was fortunate to train with both the GB Squad and Sensei Otto. Nick believes that Karate has shaped the person he is today - giving him the motivation and self-belief to achieve his goals. Having just moved to Enfield, Nick is delighted to have joined the newly opened North London Shotokan Club, under Sensei John De Bono and looks forward to being a part of its on-going development. |


Nick began studying martial arts at the age of 12 as a student of Wado-Ryu Karate under Sensei Alwyn Anchors, 4th Dan. As a teenager his studies not only moulded his ability to defend himself but also taught him fundamental lessons in discipline, control and self-motivation. As part of a three man team Nick took gold at the Under-16 SKW England Karate Championships three years in a row before graduating to the adult ranks.
