North London Shotokan Karate Club (NLSK) was founded in 1983, NLSK's first London karate club was in North London Crouch End.

North London Shotokan Karate soon expanded to other london karate clubs in the surrounding area.

NLSK Chief Instructor Sensei John De Bono (JDB) is a 5th Dan in Shotokan Karate. He has been involved in martial arts and karate for 36 years

Sensei John has also competed at the highest level and is a qualified England Referee.

Dagenham International Open 2010

NLSK took a squad of twenty for the Dagenham International Open 2010, with members from Enfield and Chelsea. It turned out to be a good day’s work with 3 gold, 5 silver and 8 bronzes medals. Well done to all those who took part.

Mayors Award for Sports Volunteer of the Year

FerhatCongratulations to Ferhat Seferoglu, a black belt student with NLSK who has just been awarded the “Mayors Award for Sports Volunteer of the Year”. Ferhat is a 6th form student at Chase Community School in Enfield and was nominated for this award by his sports teacher. As well as volunteering as assistant coach at NLSK, he also helps out with the Norsemen’s Football Club’s under 14 team.

 

World Champion diver Tom Daley meets with Sensei John

World Champion diver Tom Daley meets with Sensei John in Sheffield. Tom was competing at Ponds Forge Leisure centre, in the FINA World Series diving competition. This was the same venue that was hosting the EKF National Karate Championships.
